Community Service
Delta Community and Program Service
-
Why?
Community and program service activities provide us with a way to thank the State College community for the many resources it provides for our educational program, and gives students a unique and rewarding educational experience! Service also raises awareness of varied needs within our school and the broader community, and encourages students to explore the variety of opportunities available to help the community. -
A Delta Expectation
- Each Delta student must complete 30 documented hours of community/program service for 3 or more different organizations per school year. Students must complete at least 15 hours during the first semester.
- Service hours completed in the summer prior to any school year can be counted towards the following school year's community service requirement.
- It is a student's responsibility to seek out and complete the Delta community service requirement. Students must also complete and submit the corresponding DELTA RECORD OF SERVICE FORM. Please print, complete, and submit forms to Bethany Irwin, either in her mailbox in the main office or in Room 121. You can also pick up paper Community Service Forms from the Delta Main Office (in staff mailbox area) and in rooms 118 or 121.
At Delta, we define community service as meeting all of the following three criteria:
- a donated service that promotes the good of the community
- a donated service with, through, or for a non-profit group or organization
- a donated service that involves some sort of commitment or rewarding experience
*Note: If you are planning to participate in an activity that does not fit these criteria, but would like it to count towards your Delta service requirement, please check with the Community Service Coordinator, Kate before performing the service.
Additional service information
Throughout the school year, various community service opportunities are available for students. Please Check the Delta Service Opportunities link for upcoming service opportunities.
If you are unsure about whether an activity would be considered service, have a special request, need more information, or have any other service related questions, please contact Kate Hoffman.
