Delta Middle Level approved!

The State College Area School District has approved an extension of The Delta Program for students in grades 6-8 residing in the district. This new program will have many characteristics of our current long-standing, successful program. It will be in a separate location within the Fairmount Avenue Building and will establish an identity developed in collaboration with the parents, students, and staff who are members of our school community.

The Delta Program is founded on shared decision making, relationships, building the community, and establishing a flexible learning environment. This small learning environment will include course choice, world language experiences, and extending the classroom beyond our walls into the many resources available within our community. I believe these quotes from a parent and student provide a snapshot of our mission.

If you would like to meet for more information or have any questions, please give me a call at (814) 231-1000 or contact me at jmd16@scasd.org.  I look forward to hearing from you.

"For our daughter and family the Delta Program has meant educational success.  From our view as parents, the design of the program allows significant developmental growth for students.  The growth in our daughter has expanded far beyond reading, writing and doing other school assigned projects.  She has become politically aware, active, and concerned, she has grown personally and spiritually (not in the religious sense), and she has developed a strong sense that she is an important part of the school and local community.  Our daughter has become a young woman who proudly carries a strong sense of civic responsibility.  Additionally, her love of learning has been maintained and strengthened at Delta." - Delta Parent

"Delta to me means community. It means being comfortable and having fun while enhancing education in a new way.  It means building a memorable school experience." - Delta Student
